The course

What is Java Programming — Foundations (60 Hours)?

Java Programming — Foundations is a tight, hands-on introduction to core Java and object-oriented programming for complete beginners. Over 30 two-hour sessions you learn the language and its essential APIs, apply real object-oriented design, and pick up the professional habits — Maven, JUnit testing and Git — that make you employable. You write code every session and ship one real application.

What you will become

Who it's for: anyone — beginners, students, and professionals who need practical Java. No programming background is assumed.

Roles this opens

  • Roles this foundation supports (indicative): Junior Java Developer (trainee)
  • Software Engineer Trainee
  • QA Automation Associate (Java)
  • Application Support Engineer

Signature tools

  • Java 17
  • Maven
  • JUnit
  • Git & GitHub
  • VS Code / IntelliJ

What you’ll learn

One level, 60 hours · 30 sessions of 2 hours · a single foundation level.

open to complete beginners — no prior coding. Admissions are rolling.

  • Getting Started — how Java and the JVM work, variables, types and operators.
  • Core Language — strings, control flow, loops, arrays and methods.
  • Object-Oriented Java — classes, encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, interfaces and object contracts.
  • Essential APIs — exceptions, collections, generics, enums and records, streams and lambdas, file I/O and JSON.
  • Professional Foundations — Maven, testing with JUnit, debugging, and Git.
  • Project & Assessment — scope, build and ship a real console application.

You ship, live

A Java Console Application

A real console application — for example a library, inventory or booking management system — built with proper OOP and collections, persisting data to files, organised as a Maven project, tested with JUnit and documented. Live on public GitHub with a clean commit history and a clear README, with tests on the important logic. This one project is your proof at a junior interview — and being able to explain it is what's assessed.

What you walk out with

Not a certificate. A portfolio.

The portfolio

Your journey runs on LEAP — Ikigai's Learning Execution and Acceleration Platform — giving you and your mentors a live view of your progress across all 30 sessions and your shipped project.

What it proves

[LEAP — confirm the exact list to print: e.g. attendance, session & project completion, assessment, skills map, certificate readiness. Also: who can see it (learner / mentor / parent) and the 1–2 standout features.]

Careers & support

Supported from day one to hired.

None of this is a guarantee of a job, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is the work we put in alongside yours.

Before you enrol

The questions people actually ask.

What are the fees, and is EMI or a loan available?

Fees vary by course, level and centre, and are kept deliberately affordable for an IIT Kanpur co-certified qualification. Yes to both: no-cost and low-cost EMI options are available, and we can put you in touch with education-loan partners if you would rather finance the course that way. Book a free counselling call and we will share the exact fee for your course along with the EMI and loan options you qualify for.

Do you guarantee placement?

No honest school can promise a job, and we will not either. What we do guarantee is the work behind placement: a job-first curriculum, deployed projects you defend before a live panel, plus interview prep, portfolio reviews and introductions from a placement team that keeps working with you until you land a role. Your outcome depends on your effort, but you will never chase it alone.

Do I need a coding background?

For most courses, no. Digital marketing, the data and analytics foundations and the AI excellence course assume no coding at all, and start from the beginning. Some courses do expect prior coding experience — the advanced and pro levels of the development and agentic tracks build on a working knowledge of programming rather than teaching it from scratch. If you are unsure where you sit, a counsellor will help you navigate it, and you can take a short readiness test so the answer is based on what you can actually do rather than a guess.

Is the certification recognised?

Yes. Courses carry a co-certification from the E&ICT Academy, IIT Kanpur, an initiative supported by MeitY, Government of India, alongside the Ikigai School of AI certificate. It is a verifiable credential you can add to your resume and LinkedIn, backed by projects that prove what you can actually build. Each level is certified on its own, so you hold a credential without having to finish all three.

Where are the classes held?

In person, at our learning centres in Lucknow, Kanpur, Ludhiana, Warangal and Indore, with more centres opening. Courses are taught in a lab with an instructor in the room — that is the point of them. Centre availability changes with each intake, so ask your counsellor which centre is nearest you and what is starting there.

What if I am a working professional?

Many of our learners are working full-time. Sessions are scheduled around working hours and each level is separately enrollable, so you can take one level, apply it at work, and come back for the next. Tell your counsellor your working pattern and they will find the batch and centre that fits it.

How is this different from other AI courses?

Most courses are built from a textbook syllabus by people who have never shipped AI. Ours are designed and taught by practitioners who build and deploy production AI inside large public-sector and enterprise organisations, and who bring that work back into the classroom. Every course is built backwards from the job it leads to, so you finish with deployed projects and the exact skills those employers hire for, not just a certificate.

Still deciding? A counsellor will talk you through fees, batches and whether this is the right level to start at.
